Unique Wedding Venues in Edmonton

March 24, 2017

Ever been to a wedding under the stars?

How about in the middle of a botanical garden in the middle of summer bloom?

Or perhaps on the stage in a historic theatre eating popcorn?

Sounds surreal, I know, but there are plenty of venues, just like the ones above, that can create an amazing environment for your special day, right here in Edmonton! Why are venues SO IMPORTANT? Well let's break it down a bit.

First off, you need a venue that can accommodate everyone you've invited to your wedding. This will help narrow your venue selections down quite easily. Secondly, you'll want to think of the style and theme of your wedding, and how well you and the venues compliment each other.

Are you having a large traditional wedding with colorful bouquets and breath-taking table pieces?

Are you having a smaller, more quaint and rustic wedding?

Or are you having a mid-sized, modern wedding with more of a downtown, city feel to it?

Regardless of what type of wedding you're having, your venue should match it.

Here are some of our favourite unique wedding venues!

Telus World of Science - One of the most unique venues that we have ever photographed to date. The IMAX Theater encapsulated everyone present with brilliant star constellations and, of course, the moon. Though I'm sure they can put anything you want as a background for your special moment, we thought this was a really cool and creative way to spend some time under the stars, regardless of what time of day it is. Hastings Lake Gardens - With a never-ending array of colour of flowers and bushes this is the perfect place for nature lovers and elegant people alike. The ceremony takes place in vine-covered white gazebo tucked nicely among the beautiful foliage. Also on the grounds are wooden arches leading up to the ceremony, a greenhouse (given the time of year), and "stone room" with chairs (as seen below). If you follow the road from the parking lot it will lead you to a small antiquated church, a large swing, open field, and old farming equipment. This venue is a must for those wanting a garden wedding, flower fanatics, and everyone else who truly appreciates Mother Nature. CLICK HERE to visit their website!

St. Joseph's Basilica - This church is one of the most beautiful that we have seen to date. With amazing stained glass artwork and PLENTY OF ROOM for larger weddings, St. Joseph's Basilica is definitely a venue to put on this list. Surrounded by breath-taking gardens and staircases, this church sings antiquated beauty. We have been told it is quite the process to be married here. If this is something you're looking for, you best inquire ASAP.  To inquire more about this venue, CLICK HERE

Country Side Golf Club - This country club is PERFECT for summer-loving couples. With a truly unique wooden archway leading up to the ceremony area, this venue is scattered with amazing photo opportunities and beautiful nature as far as the eye can see. The staff here are unbelievably accommodating and extremely helpful. If you want to look at their website CLICK HERE!

Edmonton Scottish Society - This place is a must-see for all couples who love a rustic, earthy, natural ceremony/reception. With a colourful background for the ceremony and an wood-themed indoor reception makes this ideal for people who want both indoor and outdoor events in one place. This venue suits those couples that love a modern look but also want to get some of nature in on their big day. To inquire about this venue CLICK HERE

Fairmont Hotel MacDonald - For those people who love history and old buildings, this pristine and antiquated hotel is perfect for those who want a luxurious and breathtaking background. Garneau Theatre - Do you love plays, movies, or the theatre? This might just be an amazing wedding venue you didn't even think of. It's creative, unique, and historical. It opens up so many possibilities like an introduction slide show or a popcorn bar. To inquire further about this venue CLICK HERE

EPA Blue Meadows Hall - This beautiful rustic hall is located near Devon, AB. EPA Blue Meadows Hall was once available to everyone, but is now EXCLUSIVE to police staff or their families. SO if you happen to be either of those requirements, we HIGHLY recommend this venue. They have a beautiful outdoor ceremony area encapsulated in trees and tall grass. Although this venue does not have a website, try contacting the phone number on this page. Otherwise, you might have to do some digging.
