Jordyn & Taylor | Acreage Wedding | New Sarepta

February 20, 2019

This wedding is very near and dear to my heart for many reasons. I have known Taylor for more years than I ever wish to say. We grew up together in the small village of New Sarepta. Like many small towns, New Sarepta is a tight knit community, and everyone knows everyone. As kids we hung out together, attended each others birthday parties, played soccer together, and went through that weird emo stage that took New Sarepta students by storm! As adults, we have remained good friends and have supported each other's community endeavors (and still attend each others birthday parties!). When Jordyn came into the picture, she jumped right in, volunteering at fundraisers that I ran or was a part of, even though we barely knew each other, and soon it seemed that she had always been around and very quickly became a really good friend of mine (and Andrew's!).

Their wedding day started, as I would imagine any New Sarepta wedding would start, with the girls getting pampered at Wyndham Garden in Nisku  and the boys shooting guns on their acreage.  The getting ready shenanigans was followed by a first look and bridals. It rained on and off throughout, but not enough to call it. Also, the sky looked like it was going to clear up!

Boy, were we wrong! As the guests started to flood in and grab their seats, the sky started to progressively get darker and darker. But still, the rain held off!

Jordyn and Taylor walked down the aisle without a hitch and it seemed like everything would work out in our favour. Mother Nature, as she so often does, had other plans. About 10 minutes into the ceremony it started to rain. And I mean TORRENTIAL rain. Lucky for us, some quick thinking quests (thank you Robyn and Adam!!!) covered us with umbrellas (while they got soaked in the process) so we wouldn't miss a second. While one would think that torrential rain during your ceremony would put a damper on things, the most beautiful thing about these two, is that they didn't miss a beat! They laughed and went with the flow.

We rearranged the location of the family photos and all waited out the worst of the rain huddled together in their garage.  The new location for family photos ended up being amazing and I am so glad that we had to use an alternate location.

We arrived at the reception, a little damp, but not in spirit, and the fun continued. Their reception was held at the New Sarepta Agriplex, probably the biggest draw for the town, besides the Derby of course. The Agriplex holds MANY memories for me and has been renovated since the last time I attended a midget hockey game on a Friday night. It looked amazing! Taylor, being the DJ and lighting extraordinaire that he is, also strung up patio lights that really brought the venue to life!

**Quick shout out!! If you are currently searching for a wedding DJ, then look no further! Knopp Wedding Co is the best! We have worked with Taylor and his company for numerous events and they do not disappoint! They keep the dance floor moving all night long and his lighting setup is the best I have ever seen! **

The night finished as any good wedding should - good drinks, good eats, some crying, some laughing, lots of catching up with old friends, and a whole lot of dancing!

Congratulations Jordyn and Taylor!! Thank you so much for having us capture such an epic day. We wish you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure!!
