When we first met Jade and Derrick, we knew we were going to be friends right away. The consultation flew by and we mostly discussed non-wedding interests and spent the majority of the time laughing, chatting about conspiracies, and forging our new friendship. These two are so down-to-earth, kind, genuine, and funny that it would be hard not to be their friends!
Jade and Derrick were married on Derrick's family farm in Mayerthorpe and dang, was this the most perfect venue! A rustic log cabin home surrounded by rolling green fields, beautiful vibrant flowers sprinkled throughout the front and back lawns, and a golden wheat field just across the way. It was a photographer's paradise! What was most memorable about this wedding though, was how unbelievably nice and welcoming everyone was. Right away, we felt like part of the family and we experienced all the love, joy, and happiness right long with everyone in attendance.
During their ceremony, J&D chose to have a foot washing ceremony. This was a very touching and emotionally charged moment between the two of them that definitely had the crowd shedding a few tears (photographers included!!). Jade, brave earth goddess that she is, walked down the aisle barefoot and also spent the rest of the day (and evening!) with the green grass squishing between her toes.
A special shout-out to Elyse Colman who coordinated the day of set-up. If anyone is looking for some help planning their wedding she is your girl! She is amazing at what she does and will save you so much stress (trust us, along with being a bridesmaid for our own wedding, she helped us make our wedding dreams come true!).
