Will & Helen | Beijing Beijing, Edmonton, AB | Summer Wedding

November 2, 2015

Will and Helen met while attending a wedding in Hong Kong as a groomsmen and bridesmaid.  When we met with Will (Helen was still in Hong Kong at the time) he said he had joked with his buddies about meeting someone while he was in Hong Kong for the wedding. Little did he know that he would meet his future wife! Talk about serendipitious.

Will and Helen were married in Hong Kong but wanted to have a Canadian reception for family living here. They had hired a photographer in Hong Kong  for their day but as Helen told me she wanted to have both styles represented; Cantonese and Canadian. The bridal photos from their Hong Kong photographer were stunning! They had a real ethereal feel to them and were completly different from our style.

It was really interesting talking to Helen about the differences in approaches to wedding photos. Their Hong Kong photographer utilized tons of props and the editing invoked images of the fantastical (I found out later that Helen had edited the photos herself!). Our approach is a little different - we focus on telling your story using  a photojournalistic style as inspiration.  We take a lot of candids and ask you to  "Act natural!!" (while we point cameras at you and snap away). We want to show the emotion and get right down to what the day is about - love, romance, family. I do think that there is a lot to be learned from both styles and definitely in the future I want to capture some ethereal Hong Kong goodness. (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge. JK LOL)

Thank you Will & Helen for inviting us to be a part of your special day here in Canada! You two are perfect for each other :) We wish you a future of happiness.
