We met Kaitlyn and Travis through one of our wedding clients that we'll be shooting this upcoming year. After a 15 minute phone call we all fell in love with each other and they asked us if it was possible that we take their photos for their wedding in Mexico. Ummmm..... YES?!? Can we PLEASE?! Next thing you know, it's 3 am and we're sitting in the desolate Edmonton airport eagerly watching the clock tick minute by minute as we get more and more excited for the big day to come. Travis and Kaitlyn showed up to the airport and we did our introductions with the family, though anyone was hardly awake enough to even remember names. Everyone shuffled onto the airplane and up in the air we went, en route to paradise.
We landed in the morning and everyone looked alive and ready to explore the beautiful country we arrived into. Palm trees, sunshine, blue skies, and lush mountains everywhere the eye could see. We arrived at the hotel and everyone went from hoodies and thermal pants to tanktops and shorts in the bat of an eye. Everyone split into parties and ran off to the beach while we walked around looking for photo spots. The wedding wasn't until the end of the week, so we spent the first few days taking photos of the families playing volleyball, swimming in the ocean, playing around in the pools, and of course, sunset sessions with Travis & Kaitlyn. Everything just clicked together so perfectly, and it is pretty impossible not to get amazing photos when you're surrounded by amazing people and breath-taking scenery.
The wedding day came up fast and everyone could hardly control their excitement. We showed up to Travis and Kaitlyn's rooms to get some getting ready photos and waited for the phone call to set up the first look. The phone rang and down the flights of stairs we went to the fountain where Travis waited frantically to see his beautiful bride-to-be for their first look. She walked up and touched him on the shoulder and at that moment it was so clear why everyone travelled so far to watch these two people get married. It was heavenly. A perfect moment in a perfect place; one that could never be replaced, and we were honoured to capture it.
We did the bridal photos before the ceremony which actually turned out to be the best thing because after one of the most beautiful and paradisiacal ceremonies followed heavy downpour. A 3 ft. deep creek carved it's way through fine sand and created a fast flowing river that consumed chairs and other random objects that we watched be carried away into the sea, only to be smashed back onto the beach seconds later. And again, it was perfect. We looked around the steakhouse where the whole wedding had gathered to take solace from the pounding rain and the room was glowing with love. Smiles from ear to ear and soaking wet from the 20 ft run to cover.
The night wrapped up with a delicious meal and everyone enjoying one another's company. All in all it was a pefect day. We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to meet these two wonderful and welcoming families and be a part of such a special day. Congratulations Kaitlyn and Travis!!
